So, yesterday, at Aiden's request, I went out to cut some of these pretty flowers. Kiera watched me very intently the entire time I was cutting them. She looked a little skeptical, but I kept telling her they were pretty flowers and that we would put them in a vase and water them and put them on the kitchen table.
Today, we are eating lunch and halfway through Kiera notices the pretty irises on the table. She started screaming, "BUG, BUG!" And then she adamantly said she was all done eating although she hadn't even started on her pizza yet. I go over to her and try to reassure her that they are flowers, not bugs. Pretty, pretty. Being the kind and loving Mommy that I am I grab the camera, then I grab the flowers take them over to Kiera. The following pictures show exactly Kiera's reaction as the flowers get closer and closer and closer to her! :)
(I do want everyone to know that as soon as this face happened, I took the picture, then immediately picked her up, cuddled her, consoled her, and let her know that it really was okay. She was safe. Also, as soon as I picked her up she stopped crying, and quietly sighed, "bug.")

so we should check bug-themed *and* iris-themed bath products from the list of items to give for her 21st, eh? i busted out laughing it was all so funny. especially the little "bug" sigh at the end.
and no worries. we all know what a loving mother you are -- i guarantee no one will hold capturing the moment for posterity by (tormenting) your child with flowers on any permanent record.
sean said recently he's decided 90% of the time the first reaction to any large toddler mess, predicament or super-hero attempt is "stop! don't ___, let me get the camera first!" joel agreed.
