The FIRST Day of Preschool!!!!!!!

Today was the first day of preschool for Aiden! I can't believe that he is already old enough to go to school! It seems like not so very long ago that we brought him home from the hospital, that we were introducing solids, that he learned to crawl and walk, that we were teaching him colors and letters, that we were teaching him to count, that we introduced him to his new baby sister, that he learned how to jump, that we taught him to ride a big boy bike! And now he is a couple of weeks shy of being 4 years old and we took him to his first day of preschool.

He was so very excited for his first day and handled it like a champ! You really would have thought that he had been doing this for some time now. I could tell that he was a little nervous, but he walked right in and took the teacher's hand as she led him to the couch so she could take his picture. Of course, today was a shortened day. And Josh and I were there the whole time with him. But he sat and played along side some of the other kids as Josh and I went to a different part of the room to listen to the orientation part of the day. And he really didn't want to leave when we said it was time to go pick up Kiera.

I guess Thurs. will be the real test on how we all handle it. I know I will be able to hold it together until I am in the van. Once in the van though, I am afraid that the tears will flow! :) I think that Aiden will do just fine. Probably better than me! He thinks it is pretty neat that he gets a cubby for his backpack. He really, really liked the playground outside. He got to play with play doh today as well which is pretty high on his list of fun things to do. The teachers were really wonderful too.

Another milestone. Another reminder that my baby is growing up. What a bittersweet day!

We needed to start the day right with a good breakfast for my "star" preschooler! I buttered both sides of a piece of bread, used a cookie cutter star to cut a star out of the middle of the bread. I put both in a frying pan over medium heat, and then cracked an egg into the star hole in the bread! Here Aiden is eating his banana and holding up his star toast!
Gotta get in the requisite before the first day of school pic! Aiden also needed to show off his Thomas backpack!
Aiden before his first day of school!
In front of Aldrich preschool. Ready to go in!
Playing with some of the new friends he made! Notice they are both girls! Such a ladies man!
