Apple Orchard

So, way back on Sept. 22, we went to the apple orchard! It was a gorgeous day and the kids had a blast! They absolutely LOVE picking the apples and then eating them. Both Kiera and Aiden ate 2 whole apples while we were there. Right off the tree! You do know that they taste sooooo much better when you have picked them right off the tree. Of course, the bees really liked the apples too. Kiera and I were at a tree picking apples. At least I was picking apples, Kiera was eating one. I look over to notice that there are two big bees sitting on Kiera's apple and she is about to take a big huge bite. I grab the apple and throw it. The bees are still hovering around, and I am afraid they are really pissed off now. Kiera actually does understand why I threw the apple, and I tell Kiera to run over to Daddy, who is a couple trees away. Why? Don't really know. It seemed like a good plan at the time, since I was panicking about a bee stinging my unsuspecting, very sweet and sticky child. She runs over quite happily yelling, "Daddy, BEEEES!" As she gets to Josh, she promptly trips over her own feet. Instead of catching herself with her hands, she slides through the grass on her head, creating a huge grass stain on her forehead and hair. She doesn't even blink. Just quickly gets up and says, "BABOOM!" And continues on her way.

Aiden loved his annual apple orchard tractor ride. He was very concerned that we were going to miss it, even though I continually reassured him that we would not be leaving without taking our ride. He was a great little apple picker and helped me make an apple pie when we got home!

Pumpkins!

Chowing down his first apple!

Josh's self portrait. He decided we were taking pictures of the kids eating apples, that he should have a picture of himself eating an apple too.

Finding just the right apple!

Showing off the apples. YUMMY!

Notice an apple in each hand? One whole, one completely chewed up. And Aiden is hiding in the back!

If you look really close, you can see the grass stain. Kiera is enjoying a second apple here since the first one, nearly completely eaten, had been throw.

They look happy, huh? :)

"Here I am!"

Kiera needed to get in on the hiding in the cornstalks too.

"Boy, these apples are good!"

PUMPKIN TIME!!

Josh and the kids chose their pumpkins,

picked them up,
and walked them over to our pile!

Hanging out, and waiting for the tractor.

Finally on the wagon! "GO tractor go!"

Such serious faces!

i had to leave a note saying what a charge joel got out of kiera's grass stain - especially coming right after the sweet fairy princess series. the tale itself is so funny, but to have the picture as well. what a hoot. also a fan of joshua's self-portrait. remember when we used to have pictures of ourselves? nice to be more than just back drops and side dressing to the kids sometimes, ey?

we love you guys.
