Over Memorial Day weekend we finally got around to planting some potted flowers for in front of our house. I was pretty excited, as I am every year to get the flowers going. I had a pot for each of the kids to plant zinnia seeds in and they are super excited and happy about being responsible for their very own plants. We also planted a couple big pots of flowers to put out front.
Our neighbor kids, Noah and Serena, were out and noticed the fun we were about to have and came over to join us in our planting adventure.
Kiera and
Aiden loved sharing our adventure with their friends. They also enjoyed the planting, but I am afraid they take after me a little too much, and really didn't want to get their hands too dirty! :)
Their absolute favorite part came when the planting was over and the watering could begin! Oh, how they love the water and filling up their little watering cans time and time again. We talked about how we couldn't water the seeds and flowers too much, because that could really hurt them. And
Aiden responded, "Yeah Mom, they could DIE!!!!!"
So, hopefully the four kids didn't
over water too much, and as
Aiden says, "they will grow and grow and grow and grow until they are THIS big!" This is where he stretches his hands up in the air as far as he can reach. I am staying optimistic that even if his flowers don't grow "THIS big" he won't be disappointed!
Aiden was the first to fill his special pot with soil.
Still filling up. I didn't correctly anticipate how long it would take him to fill it up. Just one little scoop at a time!
Kiera took even longer. If you look closely, you can see that this scoop of soil landed next to the pot instead of in the pot. :) This was not a rare
occurrence as we potted! Every time she spilled she would nod her head and say, "Sorry Mommy...That okay, right?"
The kids are anxiously waiting for handfuls of the zinnia seeds to sprinkle in their pots.
Kiera is sprinkling her seeds.

Filling the big pot. Don't worry, I dumped a bunch of soil in the pot before any of the kids started scooping, so it didn't take too long to fill.
Still scooping.
Aiden's turn!
Noah is taking a turn scooping and filling.
In the middle of planting, Serena ran off down the sidewalk, and
Kiera, being the good older friend that she is, patiently ran after her, grabbed her hand, and walked her back. Oh, and
Kiera was more than happy to share the planting experience with her friends, but that watering can was sacred! She rarely let it out of her sight, much less her hand!

Bringing her plant over to put in the pot.
Aiden getting his hands dirty as we place the flower in the right spot and cover up the roots with dirt.
Noah's turn to do some planting!
This was
Kiera, helping with the "pretty flowers" but not letting that watering can go. She did her planting one handed.
Taking a break from the hard work to scooter around!
AHHHHHH!!! The anticipation had been killing them. Finally they get to show off their watering cans and fill em' up! Let the water fun begin!
Filling up the sacred pink watering can.
Aiden took his job of watering his seeds very seriously.
Carefully watering some more.
Aiden and
Kiera finishing up the final watering of the big pots! Job well done kiddos!
****Oh and if anyone is wondering....I am 34 weeks pregnant! Only 6 more till our newest little peanut will join us. And yes, I
was sitting on the ground and I
was able to make it up all on my own for those of you who might be worried! :)
