Pirate party

Josh and I had decided that when Aiden turned 5 he could have his first friends birthday party. Naturally, a pirate party was planned! What excitement! I think I was just as excited and as nervous as Aiden. I had it all planned out in typical teacher fashion. I really am in awe of those people who can just go loosy goosy. That is definitely not how I operate. I would go a little loosy goosy myself! :)
When kids arrived, they had pirate coloring/activity pages to do. We also made telescopes with rolled up construction paper to aid in our treasure hunt. We played a pirate musical islands game (think musical chairs) for our budding pirates. Aiden's favorite part was the treasure hunt. Josh and I labored over clues that we hid around the yard. The last clue led the mini pirates to a treasure chest (shoebox), full of gold coins, jewels, and other loot. The pirates divided it all up in their loot bags and then we were off to eat a well deserved lunch. We had hot dog ships that were floating in a sea of fish (goldfish), fruit skewers, and pirate punch. To top it all off we ate a cake in the shape of a pirate hat. We all had a fantastic time.

Jadyn worked on finding all of the treasure on her activity sheet.

Noah had fun coloring his page broken arm and all!

Kiera was just as excited as Aiden.

Here are all the pirates. Telescopes in hand, pirate hats on, and ready to hunt for some treasure!

Ripping open the presents like a true pirate.

The pirate hat cake. I know....cake decorating/making really isn't my strength! :) I try hard though!

Waiting to blow out his candles.

Everyone gets a chance to blow out the candles!

Lisa that cake looks wonderful. Your kids will remember your home made cakes longer than they would a cake from the store. De Ann

Of course those would be my kids refusing to wear their hats for the group picture... I think your cake turned out really well. And, as I recall, it was quite tastey!
